About

Jim Holt is the founder and managing member of Holt Law Firm, a Baton Rouge-based law firm focusing on serious personal injury, DWI & criminal defense, and general business litigation.

A native of Mobile, Alabama, Jim earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1997 from the School of Business and Industry at Florida A&M University. Before entering the legal field, Jim built a unique and diverse professional career rooted in his business background. He held an executive leadership role with a regional chamber of commerce, worked as an underwriter in the insurance industry, and spent a short time in investment banking. Despite his success in business, Jim ultimately chose to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming an attorney.

Jim received his law degree from Southern University Law Center in 2006. After being admitted to the Louisiana State Bar that same year, he completed a two-year clerkship as a Judicial Attorney for the Honorable Janice G. Clark of the 19th Judicial District Court. He later practiced as an associate for a New Orleans-area law firm, where he represented insurance companies and large corporations. After several years in that role, Jim realized the best way to serve clients was through a firm that provided personal attention and a higher level of individual commitment. From this vision, Holt Law Firm was established.

Since founding the firm in 2011, Jim has achieved numerous successes in both civil and criminal courts, representing individuals, businesses, and government entities in bench and jury trials, as well as at the appellate level.

Jim is married and the proud father of two daughters. He and his family attend Love Alive Church in Baton Rouge, where he and his wife serve as executive pastors. Jim is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
